在这部大街小瘪三剧情/喜剧/动作/犯罪片中,纽约的格林威治村有一条“小意大利”之称的街区，那里聚居着一群罗马天主教教徒，意大利青年波利和他的表兄查利也在其中。波利和查利从小一起长大，是形影不离的朋友。意大利家族的族规规定，他们必须情同骨肉，不能背叛对方，而当他们面临决裂或是要轻视对方时，也必须亲密如故。波利作假帐被老板发现后连累查利一起炒了鱿鱼，后来，在波利的劝说下，查利同意和他一起抢劫一卡车公司。但随后他们即陷入了麻烦之中：原来他们偷的钱是黑手党头子藏赃物的地方。不巧，警察沃尔特摔死在他们面前，他们从沃尔特身上找到了一盘记录着警察贪污腐化的磁带。在被黑手党砍掉大拇指后，波利将查利供了出来。虽然查利以磁带要挟黑手党，但绰号叫“臭虫”的黑手党头子还是要将查利的手剁掉。急中生智的波利在关键时刻在“臭虫”的咖啡中放了毒药，将“臭虫”放翻，而后同查利逃了出去。
Charlie and his troublesome cousin Paulie decide to steal $150000 in order to back a "sure thing" race horse that Paulie has inside information on. The aftermath of the robbery gets them into serious trouble with the local Mafia boss and the corrupt New York City police department.
