德克斯特的实验室是cartoonnetwork工作室从1996年开始制作的卡通剧集。代表着美国电视动画复兴时代的开始。80年代美国动画和美国经济一起走向了低谷，以HannaBarbera（制作猫和老鼠的那家公司）为首的老牌电视动画公司相继出现大规模的人才流失，动画的产出率快速下降，电视动画市场被玩具动画和日本的舶来品完全占据了。多年的黑暗时代之后，1995，时代华纳和特纳娱乐集团召集HannaBarbera的残余人员开创了现在世界最大的动画频道cartoonnetwork。德克斯特的实验室就是cartoonnetwork工作室制作的第一部长篇动画。就在制作过程中cn培养出了一大批优秀的动画制作者包括本片的作者GenndyTartakovsky后来飞天小女警的作者CraigMcCracken。作为伴着龙与地下城、星际迷航、星战和超级英雄漫画成长起来的一代动画制作者，他们不仅有HannaBarbera前辈扎实的基本功，还有着更加疯狂的思维方式。就是他们在洛杉矶的cn工作室中日以继夜的为全世界的观众制作最优秀的动画作品。现在的年轻一代很多小时候都在内地电视台看过。cartoonnetwork出品，中文配音很不错。
