剧情梗概：
又一个暑假到来，大雄、静香、胖虎和小夫组成一个小组，共同进行海洋研究。在图书馆查资料时，大雄被《金银岛》的精彩故事所吸引，竟突发奇想打算出海寻找宝藏。适值此时，南太平洋海域传来发现宝藏的消息，哆啦A梦经不住大雄的软磨硬泡，同意展开这次寻宝大冒险。小伙伴们相继聚到一起，将目标锁定在加勒比海域一个名叫多摩斯的小岛上。他们的旅程原本充满乐趣，但是意外很快便发生。小伙伴们遭遇时空错乱，阴差阳错来到了17世纪。大雄被浪头冲走，下落不明。哆啦A梦等人被一艘海盗船救下，却弄丢了一次元空间袋。海盗船船长吉德正准备前往金银岛寻找失踪的哥哥和侄子。哆啦A梦他们随船前往，殊不知更大的冒险即将到来。大雄的南海大冒险的票房收入高出其上一个作品大雄的发条都市冒险记的19亿日圆，甚至超越了在这个作品之前最高纪录的大雄的日本诞生，是当时哆啦A梦大长篇一系列中最高的票房纪录。此部电影的宣传口号是有戏剧性、与有点奇妙的海上冒险。主题曲HOTMILK以及片头、片尾歌曲的哆啦A梦之歌（ドラえもんのうた）都是日本知名艺人吉川ひなの（中译：吉川日奈）所演唱。当时藤子先生已经过世，原作品的漫画是由藤子工作室所担任。另外还有多数知名艺人、落语家等担任本作品的声优，这也是这个作品的一个主要特色。并且由这部电影开始的画像比例为16：9（HDTV）。在这作品中也有出现以往大雄也曾使用过的变身圈与图卡道具，不过这个道具原本有效时间是15分钟，在电影之中变成了10分钟。评论：可能是从这部电影作品开始，原作者藤子先生已经过世无法参与的关系，变成有更加倾向低年龄层的故事型态。以哆啦A梦作品的角度原本就是比较偏向于小孩子们的创作观点来看，当然不是一个错误的转型。但是以其他许多高年龄层面的支持者来说，是由一部即使是大人也能够欣赏与思考的作品转变为完全只为儿童欣赏的作品，对此的变化也引起不少人的不满。
