剧情梗概：
长江三峡，考古学家掘出庞然巨物，手工奇劣，一看竟是麦子仲肥又一废物出土！麦子，名兜，字仲肥，是我国一位吃饱撑的思想家、发明家。正当大家不知如何处置这大而无当之物，一位怀疑是麦子十八代后人的小朋友，麦兜（郭君彦/张正中配音），正与妈妈麦太（吴君如/宋丹丹配音）一起在香港发呆。麦兜很慢，很乖，很钝，被评定为多元低智能。麦太也好不了多少，半辈子乱冲乱扑，却都在扑空。为了自己，为了麦兜，麦太决定带麦兜来内地闯天下。到了武汉，麦太忍痛先把麦兜送到山上一武术学校太乙春花门寄宿。山上生活清苦，掌门道长（黄秋生/张立昆配音）呆头呆脑。麦兜无心习武，最大的乐趣是跟小同学偷入炼丹房煮方便面；值得庆幸的是，麦兜的身边还有一位可亲的助教熊宝弟弟，不时照顾麦兜。世界幼儿园武术大赛即将举行，太乙春花门小朋友软手软脚，看来只有挨揍的份儿。国际幼儿园武术大赛，麦兜迎战各地好打小朋友。这时，麦兜祖宗麦仲肥的巨物突然当、当、当的响起。原来这是个一年等于一秒，每三千六百年才报一次时的大钟大成若缺，大器晚成。麦兜忽然领悟出太极拳，以至自己生命的道理影片短评：当年第一部大陆上映的麦兜，如今看上重映，也算圆了大陆上映四部麦兜的影院欣赏。记忆里是第三次看响当当，上次大概还是初中，切身体会到麦兜成人童话的涵义，依然泪流满面，这次却看到很多完全新的东西。1.第一次走出香港到大陆。戏里麦太的大陆打拼，戏外大陆的首次试水。故事开始展现着追本溯源，对传统文化的思索。麦兜祖先的角色，古城武汉地方特色，武当山学武与道家的理念。完美融入一个麦兜风格的故事，成功地拓宽麦兜系列的纬度，从内容到受众的开拓，并没有降低影片的水准。大概麦兜故事的散文性和抒情性不分题材和内容。2.动画丰富的表现力。超越实拍限制的复...还是勤劳的麦太为生活到处奔波，还是单纯、善良、反应迟钝的麦兜过着简单的生活，为他人着想。故事到了比武的阶段大家都期待的奇妙的事没发生，一切都没改变，还是归于平淡的生活。没有大家所想的麦兜打败所有人成为英雄，没有麦太事业的新前景。他们还是回家了，回到那个最美好的家，坚持着决不放弃自己的鸡。所有的就只是生活。有很多人说它不好看，可是我觉得这份真实才是最感人的。我们生活就是这样，没有惊天动地，没有奇迹从天而降，但不代表这样的生活不奇妙。就如动画里所表达的，当在这样平凡的生活下，在度过漫长的岁月后，在经历大大小小的事情，年岁渐高之后，还能保留曾经最美好的事物，最美...--橡皮干净有会什么用啊？要用来擦掉你那些鬼符嘛。--不行，一擦就缺一个角了。当时看的时候没什么想的。就在刚刚，突然想走这段对白，有了些许感触：在一些我们认为理所当然的处理方式上，总有些人的方式会让我们啼笑皆非，甚至有可能完全无法理解。但是，这确实是存在的，并且对那些人来说，是有他们自己的道理和想法的，我们可以笑他们的想法，但是，怎么说呢，我也说不上来了。我想，再看一遍这电影，我还会有多一点感触吧。...
