Based on a short story by Marguerite Duras.
                                    
It takes a certain audacity to, like Marguerite Duras in Writing, compel the audience to be concerned about the death of a fly. Translating the seemingly hermetic text into the language of cinema also required equal offhandedness. However, directors Agnieszka Korytkowska and Anna Hatłas do an excellent job, providing Duras's elegant phrasing with an equally refined visual commentary. Writing proves to be more than just a stylistic exercise. Korytkowska and Hatłas's essay, blurring the boundaries between cinema and literature, is a universal story about the difficulty and the satisfaction directly associated with any act of creation.
