Georgetown is a drama, biography, and crime film. The film will be based on an article published by Franklin Foer in the New York Times Magazine. It will focus on Albrecht Muth (played by Waltz), a man who flatters powerful people and seduces and successfully marries a wealthy man. The much older rich woman Viola Drath (played by Redgrave), the two got married in 1990. At that time, the man was 26 and the woman was 71. Muth succeeded in joining the upper class through Drath, but his purpose behind it was always hidden in the dark. It was not revealed until 2011 when Drath was found dead at his home in Georgetown. Muth was convicted of first-degree murder in 2014 and sentenced to 50 years in prison without the possibility of parole. Ulrich Mott, an ambitious social climber, marries a wealthy widow in Washington D.C. in order to mix with powerful political players.
