在这部死亡约会悬疑/惊悚/犯罪片中,本片是著名影星彼得·乌斯蒂诺夫第六次扮演神探波洛，原著创作于1938年，与克里斯蒂的另外两部作品《阳光下的罪恶》、《加勒比海谋杀案》组成了别具风情的“海岛谋杀三部曲”，书中讲述一位女暴君被谋杀，而她的家人个个都有杀人嫌疑，最终大侦探波洛通过抽丝剥茧的缜密推理找出了真凶。值得一提的是亨弗莱·鲍嘉的妻子、好莱坞著名影星劳伦·巴考尔应邀在片中扮演了一位女富翁，对破案起到了关键作用。

Emily Boynton, step-mother to the three Boynton children and mother to Ginevra, blackmails the family lawyer, Jefferson Cope, into destroying a second will of her late husband which would have freed the childern from her dominating influence. She takes herself and the children on holiday to Europe and the Holy Land. In Jerusalem, Hercule Poirot meets up with a woman friend, Dr. King who falls in love with Raymond Boynton to Emily's disapproval. Lady Westholme, her secretary and Cope are following them too. The children discover about the second will and Emily succeeds in rubbing the rest up the wrong way causing much hatred towards her. At a dig, everybody wonders about the camp and Emily is found dead... poisoned. Poirot investigates...
