Bleeding Nose, Empty Pockets is a documentary set in the shadows of the bright lights of Las Vegas, the last time anyone called a beloved dive bar during the Roaring '20s. Its regulars are an integral part of American life, forming a tight-knit but serendipitous community that toes the line between dignity and debauchery, keeping a finger on the past while facing an uncertain future. At least, that's the premise; reality is as unreal as the world they escaped. Bloody noses, empty pockets, a mosaic of disparate lives adrift in a failed society, disillusioned, staggering, singing as their ship sinks. Filmmakers Bill and Turner Ross (Western, 2015 Sundance Film Festival) return with an elegiac portrait of a small world that fades away but remains warm and pulsating in the comfort of community. Their psychedelic approach to non-fiction creates vague memories of experiences lost in empty shots and puffs of smoke. A look at the final moments of a Las Vegas dive bar called 'The Roaring 20s'.
