As he becomes close friends with a group of girls, he was enjoying his life in the village. However when he starts to become suspicious that Rena, Mion and the others that Keiichi trusted may be deeply involved in successive murders that occur every summer, the situation around Keiichi gradually starts to turn. As if the girls' characters had completely changed, a sewing needle is found in his food, he is chased by mysterious men, and is involved in an accident which could have killed him. When the Cicadas Cry is a drama, thriller, and horror film. In the early summer of 1983, Keiichi Maehara (played by Kimiki Maeda) moved his family from Tokyo to the remote Hinamizawa Village for his father's paintings. This small mountain village has beautiful scenery, comfortable and pleasant scenery. The school in the village also has a group of pure, beautiful and cheerful girls. Keiichi, who was still unhappy at first, soon became friends with his classmates Reina Ryugu (played by Airi Matsuyama) and Sonozaki. Several girls including Meiyin (played by Asuka Rin), Hojo Satoko (played by Ono Eirina), Furute Rika and other girls have become good friends. One day, Keiichi learned from photographer Tomitake (played by Kenji Taniguchi) that when Hinamizawa Village planned to build a dam four years ago, the supervisor was brutally murdered.
