Decommissioning Fukushima: The Battle to Contain Radioactivity
TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is the site of one of history's worst nuclear disasters: the meltdown of three nuclear reactors. The decommissioning program in Japan learns from the Three Mile Island decommissioning in the US after the nuclear plant accident in 1976 in Pennsylvania. We look at recovery efforts and challenges to cleaning up Fukushima after the tsunami affected the nuclear plant. Decommissioning Fukushima, “Some estimates say it will take over 40 years until all the work is complete. This could be the longest running documentary of all time Harry65.”

Part 2: Fukushima: Five Years Later
  
In this 5 minute short, we return to Fukushima five years after the nuclear disaster caused by a tsunami. What issues does the clean up operation face? What progress has been made in dealing with this major disaster, especially in the detection and removal of melted nuclear fuel?
