Information
A six part series, Wild South America explores the exciting, diverse and unique wildlife that inhabits the dramatic landscapes of the vast South American continent. It is a land of great extremes, stretching from the Equator almost to the Antarctic, from tropical seas to ice-capped peaks, and it has the planet's greatest river system, longest mountain chain, biggest and richest rainforest and driest desert.
Using the latest camera techniques, including infrared night vision cameras, Wild South America shows little known animals, whilst a specialist aerial cameraman soars over the continent, revealing an entirely new perspective on its varied and dramatic landscape.
These six programmes take us from the depths of the Amazon basin to the icy peaks of the Andes, from the great plains and grasslands, through the vibrant jungle rainforest to the continent's spectacular coastline - on a journey of a lifetime.

Lost Worlds
A major new series exploring the wildlife of South America. This is a breathtaking aerial journey through the most spectacular locations on the continent, from the icy peaks of the Andes to the Amazon jungle and the Atacama desert. These extreme conditions are home to a mind-boggling variety of creatures, many of them rarely seen before on television.


Mighty Amazon
A look at the unique habitat which is formed every year when the Amazon floods an area of forest the size of England. It creates a world that is home to turtles, caiman and giant otters, and where fish fly through the air and dolphins hunt amongst the tree tops.


Great Plains
A series on the wildlife of South America. This edition explores the vast grasslands of the continent, hauntingly beautiful regions inhabited by strange creatures - giant anteaters, armadillos, maned wolves, capybara and jaguars.


Andes
A series on the wildlife of South America. This edition features a spectacular journey along the Andes, the world's longest mountain range, stretching from the equator almost to Antarctica. In this harsh and unforgiving landscape, wildlife such as bears, pumas, condors and flamingos fight for survival in the numbing cold, ferocious winds and thin air.


Amazon Jungle
A visit to the Amazon jungle - the world's largest rainforest and home to the widest variety of plants and animals on Earth. he diversity of life in the jungle is so great that in just two square miles scientists have counted 3,000 varieties of lants, 530 types of birds and 11 species of monkey. But despite the huge range of life that flourishes here, survival is ever easy.


Penguin Shores
A dramatic journey along the coasts of South America, from the Falklands to the tropical Galapagos. The cold currents create rich fisheries, and support such diverse marine life as dolphins, killer whales, sea lions and albatross. But the most biquitous creatures are the penguins, which inhabit surprising locations - lush forest, arid desert and even equatorial areas.
