剧情梗概：
正当华隆(香港)集团公司董事长罗伟强(杨溢饰)飞往大陆特区，接手华隆(港资)公司之时，原公司老总潘金城意外坠楼身亡。特区刑警队长常军(巫刚饰)来到华隆办案，初步定论为自杀身亡，但精明能干的罗伟强却让敏锐果敢的发常军隐约觉察到一丝不安。罗伟强在电梯里遇上了七年前曾相处几天就匆匆分别的秦瑞(苏谨饰)，与罗伟强的再次相遇也打开了秦瑞那段不愿触及的记忆阀门…重逢使罗伟强欣喜，却使秦瑞心如鹿撞。经公安局法医的鉴定，认为潘金城有他杀迹象，常军再次来到华隆大厦现场勘察，遇到曾经是青梅竹马恋人的秦瑞。七年前常军通过秦瑞的电话找回了有杀人行为在外流窜的弟弟后，两人闹翻分手，秦瑞毅然出走特区闯荡，常军五年后调来特区任职，到处找寻秦瑞，却一直杳无音信，如今俩人相见悲喜交加。精明的罗伟强察觉了常军和秦瑞关系非同寻常，于是高薪聘请秦瑞担任华隆公司的财务总监，以便于他在特区的种种活动，秦瑞为报答当年的恩情毅然辞职来到了华隆。常军发现一件件案件的发生都与华隆公司有关，便将疑点集中到了罗伟强身上，同时他更为秦瑞身在华隆忧心忡忡。但常军不能对秦瑞说明真相，只能旁敲侧击地希望秦瑞离开华隆，而狡诈的罗伟强成功地使秦瑞误认为常军对他的怀疑都是出于嫉妒。由于破案心切，常军暗示秦瑞设法把华隆的某些帐目复印给他，秦瑞认为常军又再利用她而深受伤害。最终秦瑞还是将帐目复印件交给了常军，但她对常军的感情却日渐淡化。罗伟强一方面利用秦瑞与常军的关系掩盖自己的罪行，另一方面对相貌酷似自己已故妻子的秦瑞也呵护、关爱有加，徘徊在两个男人之间的秦瑞逐渐被罗伟强的情感付出所打动。常军终于看透了罗伟强的底牌，找到了杀害潘金城的证据，并成功粉碎了他勾结当地黑势力阿康将一位医学博士劫持到海外的绑架案。秦瑞在无意间听见了罗伟强和下属在逃跑前的对话，才恍然大悟，但悔之已晚，情感上遭受重击的她决然离去，这时罗伟强才感到自己已经深深地爱上了秦瑞，可他已无法回头。怀抱香魂远去的秦瑞，罗伟强心如死灰，迟来一步的常军终将罗伟强绳之以法，却永远失去了心爱的女人……
