剧情梗概：
1965年福岛县的煤矿小镇磐城，如今正面临着时代变革所带来的巨大冲击。石油能源逐渐成为主流，而煤资源则渐渐退出历史舞台。世代靠挖煤为生的磐城百姓开始感到生活的艰辛，镇上的煤矿相继关闭，失业不断增加。为了使小镇重新焕发活力，一个兴建夏威夷娱乐中心的计划旋即出炉。世代居住于此的女高中生纪美子（苍井优饰）得知娱乐中心招聘草裙舞演员的消息后，和好友一同前来应聘。然而暴露的服装却吓退了很多保守纯朴的女孩，最终只有只有纪美子、早苗、初子和小百合四人留下。在来自东京的舞蹈老师平山圆香（松雪泰子饰）的指导下，这几个没有任何基础的女孩顶住各方压力，为早日成为优秀的草裙舞女郎而刻苦学习剧情版本二：1965年，福岛县磐城市。这里的人们世代以挖煤为生，而如今石油代替煤成了主要能源，昔日鳞次栉比的煤矿相继关闭，无数的人失去了工作。为了重新让磐城兴旺起来，常磐夏威夷娱乐中心的筹建计划出炉了。纪美子是个普通高中生，母亲千代和哥哥洋二朗都在煤矿工作，而父亲则死于矿坑事故。娱乐中心募集草裙舞女郎，朋友早苗拉着纪美子一同前往应招。在草裙舞说明会上，女孩们第一次看到了这种露脐摆臀的舞蹈，吓得纷纷逃走。只有纪美子、早苗、初子和小百合四个人留了下来。娱乐中心的吉本部长从东京请来了舞蹈老师平山真都香。平山老师起初并不喜欢这个乡下地方，要在几个月内教会一群没有半点基础的学生跳舞这种离谱的安排更是让她恼火。然而，纪美子等人的热诚感染了平山，她开始全力以赴地授课，同时也渐渐走出了自己的人生阴影。正当大家的舞技渐渐走上正轨时，又发生了意外，娱乐中心真的能顺利开业么？！
