剧情梗概：
该剧根据2007年获得纽约时报最佳销售奖﹑JayAsher所著的同名小说改篇，故事讲述一个少年Clay（DylanMinnette饰）在某夜收到一个鞋盒，内里装着自杀﹑已故的女同学Hannah（KatherineLangford饰）的录音带。录音带中有指令，要把录音带从一个学生交到另一位手上，以向12位同学，用13个原因解释他们在她的死亡中，有着甚么身份，以及她为什么要自杀。BrandonFlynn饰演Justin，饰演一个篮球员，有着星级的实力，但亦有星级的自大﹑ChristianNavarro饰演Tony，一个孤独的人，不过他会为正确的事站出来﹑AlishaBoe饰演Jessica，Hannah的朋友，直至一次恶性的吵架而分开。JustinPrentice饰演放纵风格的Bryce，有着好看的外貌﹑DevinDruid饰演Tyler，喜欢拿着相机的摄影师﹑MilesHeizer饰演Alex，会自省﹑带艺术气质﹑有丰富情感。RossButler饰演Zach。DerekLuke饰演Hannah的辅导员Porter先生。KateWalsh饰演女主Hannah的妈妈﹑Briand’ArcyJames饰演Hannah的爸爸，是位药剂师，有自己的小生意，但在女儿之死后，他把自己沈醉在工作及保持自己的店子免被竞争对手压垮，并以此逃避丧女的现实。AmyHargreaves饰演常规角色，男主Clay的母亲Jensen女士，她性格爽朗﹑与儿子关系密切﹑富同情心及关心儿子，不过在Clay口中则称她是「直升机家长」（形容这些家长会像直升机一样，盘旋在子女四周，随时空降帮子女解决问题）。不过这位身为公正的律师，对待儿子时的确少了一份客观。
