剧情梗概：
第一次淞沪会战期间，苏州富家子弟周文与同学打赌，去前线慰问战士。在目睹了战争的残酷和中国军人的热血后，产生了弃笔从戎的念头。周文改名周卫国，参加了黄埔军校。因表现优异被派往德国军校，专修特种作战技术。在德国学习的过程中，他认识了日本派来的竹下俊。俩人在军校的学习生活中交为至交好友。1937年中日战争爆发，周卫国和竹下俊被召回各自的国家，两个好友最终无法避免在战场上兵戎相见的命运。周卫国归国后屡立奇功，却亲眼目睹了战友们相继死去，未婚妻也为避免日军侮辱，吞枪自尽。南京大屠杀后他逃出南京，决定北上参加八路军。周卫国到达抗日根据地，亲手训练出中国第一支特种作战分队屡立奇功，而竹下俊也组织了最精锐的日本特战队，与周针锋相对。最终，周卫国的特战队战胜了日本特种部队，将日军彻底赶出根据地，并迎来了抗战的最后胜利。周文为解救遭调戏的女友，杀死日本浪人，闯下大祸。在他的父兄多方解救下，侥幸逃脱并化名周卫国考入军校，由于成绩优异被送到德国留学。抗日战争全面爆发后，周卫国虽然奋勇杀敌，无奈国军接连败退，不断丢城失地，尤其是他的未婚妻为免遭日军凌辱而自杀，自己眼睁睁地看着却无法解救，更让周卫国国仇家恨集于一身。国军溃败，周卫国流落到八路军根据地，他历经波折，从一个只知道单纯杀鬼子报仇发展到成为成熟的八路军指战员，并组建了代号“雪豹”的特战队，为抗战事业做出了贡献。在荣誉和名利面前，他淡然处之，成就了一段传奇。
