剧情梗概：
阿辉（李国煌饰）是殡仪馆员工，负责清洗尸体、守夜、盖棺等杂物。阿辉两袖清风，一无所有，唯有满腔待人的热忱，和崇尚社会美好的赤子之心。他如少男情怀般暗恋着殡仪馆的化妆师宝珠（邵美琪饰），却不敢表白。有一天，诡异的事情发生了！阿辉发现自己竟然能和鬼魂沟通。这些鬼魂都是殡仪馆的客户，因为阿辉能通灵，他们要求阿辉帮它们完成一些未了的心愿邵美琪演的殡仪馆化妆师宝珠和李国煌扮演的殡仪馆杂工兼助理阿辉，经常在工作上意见不合而针锋相对，闹了很多笑话。待人热忱又喜爱帮助人的阿辉竟暗恋起性格好打不平的宝珠，却只能爱在心里口难开。他们两人在为死者进行善后服务的过程中，经历了连串的诡异事件，阿辉更发现自己竟然有和鬼魂沟通的超常能力，有4个遭遇不同的死者鬼魂前来??求助，即喵喵林静苗演的生前任性又有表演欲的少女喵喵，姚玟隆演的凶恶大耳窿金狮，黄得伟演的好赌鬼阿虎，和周杞武演所年迈又多情的王伯，他们在不同的情况下枉死，却因各有生前未了的心愿，都找上阿辉和宝珠想尽办法帮助他们完成心愿。阿辉和宝珠在协助鬼魂了心愿曾经历不少险境，同时也在患难中见真情之下，促使人与鬼成为了‘好朋友‘。值得一提的是；邵美琪在电影情节里大胆跳钢管艳舞，性感撩人的一环，叫人哗然，那是爱表演舞蹈的少女喵喵的鬼魂，上了宝珠的身。黄启铭在戏里演的殡仪馆促销员超人，是个泡妞圣手，得到宝珠的爱慕，他却对宝珠看不上眼；卓卉勤演贤惠的主妇美珍，是阿辉的姐姐，嫁了个尖酸刻薄的丈夫即是梁拯康演的Jimmy，他们在戏里所扮演角色的配合下，也使《老友开心鬼》的故事情节生色不少。幕后花絮《老友开心鬼》集合了喜剧、恐怖剧、戏剧等三大戏种元素，势必要让你又怕又好笑。整部电影在巴生谷地区取景拍摄，至于电影卡士方面，可以说是集合了来自马新港，三地的明星，尤其是新加坡笑匠和香港艺人邵美琪在戏中将会被凑成一对，为观众带来新鲜感。这部电影是邵美琪首次接拍的大马电影，戏里的对白都是以华语为主；虽然她在戏里讲了一堆港式华语，但同剧的演员们都一致认为那就是她在戏里的笑点，所以也没有刻意去矫正她。而难得的是，当事人也不介意众人的取笑，没有刻意去恶补华语。
