剧情梗概：
退休警察豹叔膝下有儿子阿国（张国强饰）和养子阿定（刘德华饰），阿国曾是国际刑警，如今返港担任督察；而阿定则混迹黑道，虽然收入丰厚并颇得老板杨东海赏识，但阿定拒绝贩毒令杨东海很为难。阿定与阿国情同手足，但并未打探彼此工作。不久，阿国受命调查杨东海一伙，同时阿定中了杨东海苦肉计，不得不与毒贩接洽，结果引发血战。背负杀人嫌疑的阿定被阿国追索，侥幸逃脱后连累后者遭警队处罚。另一方面，阿定和阿国在警队中的对头步步紧逼他们，最终身死，而阿定的女友雯雯（萧红梅饰）为阿定几次犯险，阿定不忍弃她而去独自出国避祸，形势越来越向失控的地步发展剧情版本二：豹叔收养了朋友的儿子阿定（刘德华饰），与自己儿子阿国（张国强饰）情同手足。两人长大後，阿国成为从苏格兰场学成的警官，阿定成为犯罪集团的杀手杨东海的得力助手。阿定驾车往机场，迎接返港的警官阿国。杨东海实为黑社会头子，贩卖军火，走私毒品。阿定在黑社会上发迹，但阿定盗亦道，拒绝涉手毒品。阿国报到后，即奉命缉破杨东海的犯罪集团。阿定船上遇雯雯（萧红梅饰），一见倾心，并赢得芳心。阿国劝阿定改邪归正，阿定也有悔意。杨东海知道阿定想离开他之後，没有放过他，使其成为黑吃黑的牺牲品。杨东海欲找阿定替其处理毒品生意，故意买人刺伤自己，要求阿定替其出面谈判，阿定答允，不料谈判破裂。1987年导演黎大炜执导、由刘德华、张国强、杨群、董骠和当年台湾来港发展的女星萧红梅主演的《肝胆相照》是一套出色万分的警匪片。刘德华演了二十多年戏，他曾坦言拍床戏比拍动作戏更辛劳，他很怕拍这类缠绵激情戏；而在他演过床戏的众多女星中，他最难忘的是合作电影《肝胆相照》现在已息演的萧红梅。
