剧情梗概：
八十年代，苏联国内的毒枭从美国大量进口毒品，上尉德戈（阿诺施瓦辛格ArnoldSchwarzenegger饰）奉命捉拿乔治亚毒贩集团，然而在围捕行动中，德戈战友身亡，毒贩头目逃脱出国。不久，在美国芝加哥，苏联毒贩维特落网，美苏两国达成协议，德戈由莫斯科赴美押送维特回国，美国方面派出警探雷塞克（詹姆斯贝鲁什JamesBelushi饰）担任其助手和翻译。不料维特再次在同伙的配合下成功逃脱，德戈至此不得不向美国方面吐露了维特的真实身份，并与雷塞克合力追踪维特。苏美两国的差异在德戈和雷塞克身上不时体现，然而两员悍将很快弥合差异，精诚合作追索毒枭剧情版本二：REDHEAT其实算是一部反映两位男主人公肝胆相照、同仇敌忾的兄弟片。片子对暴力的处理手法新奇、别致，使观众在观看影片时并不觉得惊恐骇人。片中的有关红场的镜头，使本片具有了典型的俄罗斯风格，起到了锦上添花的作用。这也是有史以来，前苏联123首次答应美国电影公司在苏联拍摄外景和苏军的镜头。该片的结尾部分也处理的十分巧妙，保持了全片风格的一致性。阿诺的俏皮话：阿诺来到了汽车旅馆的房间内，向收费电视投进一个硬币，屏幕上立即出现一对男女的＊色镜头，他看着屏幕冷冷地说：资本幕后制作本片是在苏联尚未解体之前第一部获准在莫斯科红场拍摄外景的好莱坞电影，内容也是沿着美苏修好的时代趋势而设计。导演较擅长影像设计和动作场面，对细腻的人性和文化刻画拍来较粗疏，所以阿诺的冷和贝鲁西的热并未激荡出预期的火花，整体成绩不及主题类似的《黑雨》。有一部1985年的同名影片，中译名是《冲出生死线》，是美国和德国合拍的女子监狱题材影片，跟阿诺版毫无关联。
