剧情梗概：
上世纪70年代初，与家人音讯全无隔绝多年的劳改犯陆焉识（陈道明饰）在一次农场转迁途中逃跑回家。这对怀抱芭蕾舞梦想的女儿丹丹（张慧雯饰）带来了巨大压力，她阻止母亲冯婉瑜（巩俐饰）与父亲的相见。因此夫妻二人近在咫尺却又相隔天涯。文革结束后，陆焉识终于平反回家，但是他却发现女儿早已放弃了芭蕾的梦想成了一名工厂女工，而深爱的妻子因为患病已经不认识自己。深厚的感情、生活的变故，迫使陆焉识做出了对他来说最荒唐却又最合理的人生选择。本片是张艺谋导演加盟乐视影业后的第一部作品，被编剧邹静之誉为苦心之作。幕后制作创作来源《归来》剧本取材自严歌苓小说《陆犯焉识》，由编剧邹静之操刀改编，并由陈道明和巩俐出演男女主角。严歌苓的小说作品多以女性题材为主，而《陆犯焉识》作为其颠覆性的转型之作，以一位饱经岁月洗礼的大户人家公子为主人翁，讲述了其在文革前后几十年间的多舛命运。原著充满了济世情怀，严歌苓有感于自身家族史以及祖父的人生际遇，添加了自身对于精神世界的探索，把知识分子陆焉识的命运放在中国现当代的政治背景之下，来审视岁月的残酷与生命可企及的高度。评论：这次张艺谋只取小说的后几十页，拍摄电影《归来》。说实话，令我很欣喜的是他没有像《山楂树》、《金陵十三钗》拍摄时那样，从选角开始，一路炒作到电影上映。我甚至在电影院看见预告片后，方知他有此作品。演员的选择，也极好。陈道明，在我心中就是陆焉识，无论是英俊潇洒的形象，还是人文素养，他都超越中国绝大多数的男演员。巩俐，我妈说：她演的越接地气就越好，我妈不会用专业术语，但这种简单直白的评价我觉得很到位。以前对巩俐的感觉并没有很深刻，但这次，她在《归来》里的每一个眼神都深深撼动了我。她哭，就像小说里的恩娘，那种眼泪是会让人欲罢不能的。剥去时代这层厚重的外衣，甚至抛弃掉家庭这一可有可无的形式，《归来》的戏核是个再普通不过的纯爱故事一对相濡以沫的恋人如何共同面对意外的打击，以另外一种身份共度余生。类似的故事模式，其实在日韩的爱情片里一再上演，然而比起邻国那些不着边际的空中楼阁，张艺谋质朴平实的美学追求让电影多了几分真实的温度。不知道是不是因为年龄更为接近的缘故，比起几年前讲述年轻人爱情的《山楂树之恋》，《归来》中的情感流露显得更为自然也更为真诚，两位国宝级实力派演员的演绎让电影至少可以摆脱掉装纯这一尴尬的帽子。
