剧情梗概：
在与挪威的战役中，苏格兰国王邓肯（NicholasSelby饰）的表弟麦克白表现出色，被加封为爵士。早在授爵之前，麦克白（JonFinch饰）和朋友班柯（MartinShaw饰）就已从三个女巫那里听说他将加封并最终成为国王的预言。预言的实现勾起麦克白心底隐藏的欲望，随后他和夫人（FrancescaAnnis饰）杀害了来他城堡做客的国王，并嫁祸国王的随从。两个王子隐隐感到暗杀背后的血腥阴谋，于是分别逃往英格兰和爱尔兰。成功践祚的麦克白不可一世，但他又分明记起女巫针对班柯的预言，即班柯虽然不能成为国王，不过他的子孙将世代为君。不甘为他人做嫁衣的麦克白指示亲信击杀好友，从此开始了一条充满血腥的不归路本片根据莎士比亚四大悲剧之一《麦克白》改编。剧情版本二：1971年的《麦克白》由罗曼波兰斯基执导，完全脱离了舞台剧的束缚。这是波兰斯基在怀孕待产的妻子遇害之后的首部作品，丧妻之痛使波兰斯基这个时期的作品都变得更为黑暗，因此这版原本就充满着阴郁压抑气氛的《麦克白》也显得更为血腥。奥逊威尔斯版的《麦克白》着重在人物的心理刻画上，全片基本没有出现带有血腥的镜头（例如麦克白谋杀邓肯是通过麦克白和麦克白夫人的对话传达出来的），而71版就一一再现了这些镜头，麦克白杀死邓肯的过程很详细，麦克白被麦克德夫斩首还给了特写。评论说波兰斯基擅长在血腥中探索人性。这点在他后来拍的《苔丝》（1979年）和《雾都孤儿》（2005年）中并不是很明显，但是这部《麦克白》还蛮吻合的。扮演麦克白夫人的是弗兰西丝卡安妮丝，这位除了是英剧里的常客，还知道她与拉尔夫费因斯有段姐弟恋，年轻的时候也是很漂亮的。影片评论影片大量使用原文对白的优势是明显的，有如莎翁在上助力。但是，同时也成为了影片创作的纸枷锁，想撑开又舍不得，结果自然牺牲了影片的节奏和拔高的可能。全片一共140分钟，应该说前三分之二的部分都非常抓人，哪怕部分情节松散，莎翁原文一念叨，立马聚精会神。笔者观片时间超过三小时，就是因为影片部分语速较快错过了一句半句，一定要倒回去看明白才过瘾。但是在后面部分，明知麦克白大势已去，对摧枯拉朽翘首以盼，片子还像麦克白本人一样不紧不慢，把戏剧冲突的火候弄温了。而最后的结局尽管大家都心知肚明，但是高潮也确实太不给力而且短促了。更要命的是，到了最后波兰斯基也没挺身而出再给观众致命一刀，而是看莎翁铩羽，他也跟着鸣金了。波兰斯基以凌厉著称不假，但冷峻的转身之前都是大杀招啊，如《影子写手》，可是这部就疲软了一些。究其原因还是过于拜倒在莎翁的石榴裙下不敢造次，原原本本打造出来就奉上神坛请君过目了。相形之下回望黑泽明大神处理《蜘蛛巢城》的手法，就是采用故事和结构脱胎于《麦克白》，但是用完你的活了，好的，该我登场了，自己想说什么卡卡卡一顿陈述，合着莎士比亚就是给大神热场的，层次高下立现。一个恭恭敬敬，一个霸气外露。
