剧情梗概：
本片是根据迪斯尼经典动画片《风中情缘》改编翻拍的真人版，片中柯林法瑞尔饰演一位1607年登陆美殖民地的欧洲船长约翰史密斯。当欧洲殖民者来到美洲詹姆斯顿之后，两种文化的激烈碰撞，平民与贵族之间的感情纠葛，原始激情与理性压抑的深层交战由此展开。外来的入侵打破了这里原有的宁静与安逸，凶横的总督、倔强的印第安战士，英国人和原住民的关系很快就演变到势同水火般的对立。土著少女卡洪斯塔在一次搭救约翰史密斯性命的遭遇后，两人产生了一段旷世情缘。最后两人因为种种原因不得不分离。但他俩深知他们的灵魂将在永恒中合而为一。故事发生在17世纪早期，当时的美洲大陆还居住着大量不同种族的原著民，各个种族在同一个大环境下有着自己不同的种族文化，但彼此相处也还算融洽。这样的终于在一天被外来的侵入者打破。在1607年三月的一个春天，三艘载着103个英国人的小船缓缓驶入了部落的领域。他们的目的是在新大陆上建立起自己国家文化，宗教和经济的立足点。船上铐着一个在靠岸后就要被绞死的，叫做约翰史密斯的27岁的年轻人。史密斯是个欧洲战争中幸存的老兵，具有足够的智慧和经验保住自己的头，在抛锚之后便成功地说服船长释放了自己，理由是要为建立殖民地尽量保存有生力量。在他们的探险旅程中，这只殖民队伍不知不觉已经进入了酋长Powhatan的势力范围。　　对于酋长和他的部落来说，这是一个他们世代生活的封闭世界，于是这帮英国来的不速之客相当不受欢迎，并且在双方的沟通中遇到了很多障碍。史密斯希望能够从当地人中找到一个助手，帮助他解决交流的困难。这个时候他碰到了一个宛若林中精灵般不食人间烟火的年青女子，她的家人和朋友都叫她Pocahontas，是酋长Powhatan最疼爱的女儿。此时史密斯与Pocahontas之间，已经渐渐产生了一种多于友谊，甚至超越浪漫的奇妙的感情
