剧情梗概：
本片根据畅销书作家斯科特史密斯同名恐怖小说所改编。六个朋友结伴去科巴Coba附近的一个考古遗址度假旅行。这些人包括即将在秋季开始自己医科大学的杰夫，还有杰夫的聪明而又情绪化的女朋友艾米。艾米最好的朋友斯塔西也在队伍之中，她是一个热心的社会工作者，其缺点是不负责任。同在队伍中的还有斯塔西的男朋友埃里克，这个家伙思想还极不成熟却马上要成为一名高中教师，真不知道他能把学生教成什么样。队伍中另外两个人是帕布罗和玛西亚斯，前者是一个风趣幽默的希腊人，而后者是一个多谋的德国游客。故事从玛西亚斯的各个亨利奇的失踪开始。亨利奇在旅途中遇到了一个漂亮的荷兰考古学家，着迷于这个考古学家的美貌，亨利奇决定去考古遗址区找她，走的时候他匆匆的画了一张地图留给了玛西亚斯以便他能够找到自己。队伍中其他五个人决定陪玛西亚斯一起去找亨利奇。他们搭巴士来到了科巴却被当地的酷热和昆虫折磨的举步维艰，更糟的是亨利奇的地图将他们引到了一个玛雅人的村落，当地的居民显然对这些外来者怀有敌意。村民们对拿出了弓箭和枪逼迫他们爬上一座被藤蔓和红色的花朵所覆盖的大山。一路上到处都是植物的藤条，但山下迎接他们的只有村民们的枪口，所以他们只有艰难的向上走，希望能够找到别的出路。突然，他们发现了一具被植物所包裹的尸体，仔细一看那竟然就是亨利奇，他的尸体被藤蔓和花朵所覆盖显得极其诡异。接下来，他们又发现了许多其他的尸体，也是同样被藤蔓所覆盖。气氛变得紧张而又恐怖，但他们没有回头路，只有继续向上走。然后他们发现杀死这些人的凶手竟然就是这漫山遍野的植物，它们有感觉，能活动，还能分泌酸性的液体腐蚀一切，甚至它们还能模仿人类的声音，将队伍一步步引诱到它们的陷阱之中。这六个人已注定有来无回，接下来的问题只是这些植物们想怎么捕获自己的猎物了……
