剧情梗概：
时空背景是台湾的五十年代，阿贞嫁给阿义。一夜，起床上厕所的阿贞，却发现隔墙的厨房里，不断传出另一个男人的喘息声。她起身步步逼近厨房。一只手突然从背后捂住她正要尖叫的嘴，那只手的主人也发出喘息声。声音的主人正是她刚新婚的老公；老公说他在厨房的墙里面藏着一个男人，那人是他的老师。　　老师是一个日本人，叫木村昭平。他在太平洋战争前夕，来到台湾鼓吹社会主义革命，对于日本发动战争感到不满与羞愧。他启蒙了玻璃工人阿义等一群人；阿义原本对世界、对时局、对阶级压迫一无所知，自此追随木村进行革命行动，并把木村当成神一般崇拜。　　国民政府迁台后，对左派人士布下天罗地网，准备逃进森林与野兽共存亡的木村，接受了阿义的建议，藏身在阿义家中厨房的一道墙。木村透过墙上的裂缝，眼睁睁地看着国民政府的特务定期将阿义架走，几天后返家的阿义满身血迹爬滚进家门。　　婚后不久的阿义又被特务架走，第一次遇到这种恐怖事情的阿贞，以为从此再也见不到老公了。在绝望与恐惧中，她在深夜里把木村从墙里放了出来。没想到，他却爬滚到阿贞的身上。阿义回来后很快就发现木村与阿贞间的秘密，他选择隐忍不发。为了理想、为了他心中的神，他相信这一切的牺牲都是值得。　　久候阿义的阿贞发现自己怀孕了，情绪几乎崩溃，墙后的木村想要以死了结。一天夜里木村逃出了那扇墙，这四个人的命运在这个夜黑风高之日，发生了逆转。
