剧情梗概：
洛杉矶好莱坞招牌山上，一名面容消瘦的男子从昏迷中醒来。他忘记了自己的名字，身上也没有任何证件。在他的面前，一个警官的尸体正渐渐冰冷。他拿起地上的枪，驾车来到死亡警官的家中，试图寻找真相，却被当作嫌疑犯而追捕。从一通神秘的电话里得知，他似乎是名叫山姆?鲁本的私家侦探，但是鲁本办公室的接待员萨曼莎似乎对他毫不熟捻，且心存戒备。男子偷偷盗取了鲁本的文件，其中一张照片上的男子和自己完全相像，他认定自己正是这个名叫大卫?哈德森的无赖。与此同时，他的身边似乎永远危机四伏，总有人不遗余力想要杀掉他。男子一面躲避追杀，一面按照文件上的地址拜访不同的人，以期弄清真实身份和被追杀的原因……
