剧情梗概：
1980年5月光州事件以来，韩国在军政府独裁统治的道路上越走越远。伴随着民主人士此起彼伏的自由呼吁，政府对人权的压制与践踏也日益猖獗。位于首尔南营洞的秘密据点，曾带给许多民主人士难以磨灭的惨痛回忆。1985年9月的一天，民主化运动人士金钟泰（朴元尚饰）被秘密逮捕，旋即投入南营洞。在这个阴森冰冷的所在，他被迫不眠不休写下个人简历，还要时刻遭受审讯人员的拳打脚踢和人格侮辱。为了迫使金写下伪造供词，以刑讯专家李斗焕（李庆荣饰）为代表的一群冷酷男子，采用花样百出的暴力手段，对金进行了长达二十多天的折磨。他们亲手缔造了一个民族最不堪回首的历史本片根据真人真事改编。剧情版本二：1985年军事独裁背景下的韩国，恐怖的代名词南营洞对共分室里展开了一场长达22天的严刑逼供，韩国民主化运动的代表人物金槿泰（片中名：金钟泰）因涉嫌违反国家保安法和集会示威法被捕后，遭到拷问技术人员李根安（片中名：李斗英）的严刑拷问几近丧命。《南营洞1985》便是根据已故金槿泰议员的自传性手记改编拍摄的电影，通过金槿泰的故事向观众真实再现了在那个野蛮的时代惨遭践踏的灵魂和那些沦为怪物般存在的人物群像。这也是是韩国导演郑智泳继《断箭》之后执导的又一部现实题材力作。幕后花絮该片原名《野蛮的时代》。在确定最终名单时，剧组所有人都以为朴元尚会饰演拷问专员李斗焕，可郑智泳却属意他担纲第一男主角金钟泰。读过初稿，朴元尚为适应角色，次日便投入减重10kg的瘦身计划。《南营洞1985》虽然含有大量裸露和暴力镜头，但在第17届釜山国际电影节主展映单元与观众见面时，考虑到能让更多观众看到该片，主办方将上映级别定为15禁。影片正式上映时也被判定为15禁登记，韩国影像等级制度委员会给出的解释是电影中的身体裸露镜头并非限制级诉求，而出现残忍的拷问情节也是有事实根据的现实还原。影片使用了两首反战歌曲做背景音乐。一首是抗议英格兰征兵的爱尔兰反战民歌JohnnyIhardlyknewye（强尼，我快认不出你了），成为金钟泰的主旋律；另一首是二战歌曲Bellaciao，原为意大利游击队之歌，经改词编曲成为南斯拉夫影片《桥》的插曲，是片中金钟泰家族的主旋律。片中刑讯人员吹的口哨曲调出自约翰福特的西部片《侠骨柔情》。片中大量受虐的戏码，让朴元尚近乎脱了一层皮。如每拍完一场水刑，大家就要赶快跑到他身边，确认没有什么格外的不适。事后大家才知道，朴元尚从小就有恐水症，甚至无法练习游泳。但他却凭借坚强的意志，完成了所有的水刑戏。
