剧情梗概：
小潜艇阿力前往海底深处执行任务，遭遇史无前例的意外事件。小鲨鱼梅莎拒绝成为爸爸独眼鲨那样鱼见鱼怕的海底霸王，内心幻想成为小潜艇阿力一样的海底英雄。她无意之中得到的神秘宝盒，却把爸爸独眼鲨变回了童年的模样。当宝盒离奇失踪后，海底游乐场惊现神秘大怪物为探寻谜底拯救海底世界，小潜艇带着超萌小动物们一起踏上了神奇的寻宝冒险之旅。《潜艇总动员》系列作为一部毫无电视观众基础的作品，在7年的时间里能够做到第五部，而且还存在继续做下去的可能，这一点就算不是一个奇迹，也一定是个特例。其实剥开潜艇这层皮，《潜艇总动员》系列是一套旧瓶装新酒运作模式。虽然所有作品名义上都是潜艇系列，但是实际上每一集的故事都是由新的角色作为主角推进发展，每一集也都是一个完全独立的故事。潜艇阿力和贝贝还有海马家族、海狸波波等角色基本都是配角身份，《潜艇总动员》系列早就没有潜艇什么事了。而潜艇这个招牌一直存在的目的义也许就是一种生拉硬扯的品牌效应，在每年的儿童节告诉小朋友们《潜艇总动员》系列还在继续。《潜艇总动员》系列这样每一集角色似曾相识，故事却独立不同的优点在于它不仅可以抓住之前看过的部分小朋友，还能吸引到新的一批小朋友来，而且完全不用担心接不上上一集的剧情。而且就算是上一部烂透了，下一部或许还有转好的可能。出品方这样的初衷应该是好的，至少能为票房收入提供一些保障，同时也能节省一些制作成本。只是这样的做法也会让人感觉每一部新作不过都是换汤不换药应付，是欺骗观众信任的花招，是毫无创造力的止步不前。而看完这部最新上映的《潜艇总动员5：时光宝盒》后，这样的感觉更强烈了。观影完毕散场的时候，和著名动画影评人宋天师聊起《潜艇总动员》系列是否有进步，宋表示退步了，我出于支持国产的态度称还是有进步的吧，至少比去年讲强拆强些，还算有些童心，宋反驳说只能说是和去年一样烂，比起该系列了第三部还是差了很多。怯怯提笔，俺仔细回味了下片中内容，也总觉得有些心虚。国产动画真的进步了吗？最大的短板剧作：是否有所提升呢？想来想去，若彻底抛开动画人/影评人身份的软性桎梏，真的把自己放在一个相对客观的位置，进步这两字却难有充分的理由说出口。
