剧情梗概：
《荆轲棘秦王》描述西元前三世纪的中国，雄心壮志的蠃政如何汲汲营营於统一天下，而不惜铲除一切阻碍，最後建立空前帝国的经过。当时燕国为蠃政的心腹大患，为了帮助他早日达成统一霸业，蠃政的青梅竹马赵姬於是冒险至敌对的燕国卧底，假意策动刺杀蠃政的计画。如此一来，一旦东窗事发，秦国便有出兵攻打燕国的名目。　　但在这个计谋得逞之前，蠃政发现了关於自己身世的秘密。为了永绝後患，心狠手辣的蠃政杀人灭口，欲将所有知道真相的人赶尽杀绝。因将军攻打邻近的赵国，捉拿知道真相的叛将樊於期。但蠃政违背对赵姬的诺言，在赵国境内残杀无辜，连手无寸铁的孩童也不放过。蠃政的种种暴行，看在深爱着他的赵姬眼中，实在难以忍受。赵姬於是改变初衷，决定假戏真做，与姬丹同心戮力策画谋刺蠃政的行动。　　执行这项任务的人选，是名剑客荆轲。荆轲当时早已厌倦刀剑生涯，归隐山林，但最後仍答应为此重出江湖。荆轲一出现，旋即以他的侠义风范攫获赵姬的芳心，两人坠入情网。荆轲後来失手丧命，赵姬返回秦国为他收尸。见到蠃政，赵姬义正词严地坪击蠃政的暴虐无道後，便头也不回地离去。留蠃政一人独自打造江山霸图。
