剧情梗概：
沉万山的后代沉唐唐(吴天瑜)继承了父母的遗产及祖传的聚宝盆。唐唐的堂弟阿混(陈凯旋)与父亲老头住在楼房内其中一个单位，因缴不出房租而被唐唐赶出家门，不甘被侮辱的阿混因此立誓要赚取人生中的第一桶金。另一边厢，以柯老大(林静苗)为首的柯家三姐弟趁过年期间，冒充沈家远方亲戚去拜年，实践上是要找寻柯家历代都在寻觅失传的聚宝盆。合理柯家三姐弟以为抢盆方案快要胜利时，却东窗事发，所幸阿混及时出手挽救，但阿混其实是误以为唐唐房内藏有巨款才出手挽救。两帮人马各怀鬼胎，发作了猛烈的争论…。某山上小屋住着一对恩爱的老神仙-喜欢撰写民间故事的江郎(蔡河立)，及擅长煮菜及烹调孟婆汤的孟姐(王爱玲)。元旦夜，孟小妹(秦雯彬)拿着她的处女作《聚宝盆续集》朗诵给他们听，江郎惊知小妹擅自由他书后写下续集，无法之下只好修正故事的结局，好让无恶不作的阿混最后被车撞死，这样才契合江郎的民间故事规格。没有思想的故事人物阿混，每天按照孟小妹的故事情节抢盆、打斗…直到阿混遇到一只会说话的金鼠(张惠虹)，从金鼠口中惊知他只不过是神仙笔下的傀儡，不堪被控制的阿混决议溜进仙界将故事书消灭，但所谓书亡人亡，金鼠赶紧遏止他。阿混认定只需聚宝盆不在他身上就不会遇上车祸死亡，于是将聚宝盆转送给柯家三姐弟。慎重的柯老大为防有诈竟挟持阿混一拼逃走，直到肯定没追兵后才将阿混踢下车。阿混眼看聚宝盆离他远去以为命运从此改动，不料却发现将金鼠落在柯家的车上，经过一番挣扎，最后还是冒着生命风险将金鼠救出，但此举却不测让聚宝盆随他返回沈家楼，故事情节又回到原点…
