剧情梗概：
建立已三百年的懒洋洋小镇，生活着一个能看到鬼魂的小男孩诺曼（柯蒂斯密特-麦菲KodiSmit-McPhee配音）。可是这种能力给他带来无限困扰，周围的人甚至父母姐姐都认为他是个满口胡言乱语的神经病，只有学校里同样受大家嘲笑的小胖子奈尔（TuckerAlbrizzi配音）相信并愿意和诺曼做朋友。这一天，深居简出且疯疯癫癫的普兰德叔叔（约翰古德曼JohnGoodman配音）找到诺曼。叔叔也是个通灵者，他告诉诺曼一个重大的秘密，当年建镇之初被人们杀死的女巫鬼魂即将苏醒，届时女巫要携着恐怖的僵尸实现对镇民的诅咒。不久，叔叔死去，而女巫注定苏醒的忌日即将到来。诺曼必须想方设法拯救他的小镇在一个普通而平静的小镇子上，居住这诺曼一家人。这个小镇子没有什么特别的，倒是诺曼对于僵尸和灵异现象的喜爱让他的父母、姐姐和都对他大为不解。出现在诺曼生活中的所有物品几乎都和僵尸有关。所以，诺曼也就成了小镇子上的一个怪孩子，好在他身边还有一个叫做艾尔文的好朋友伴随在他的左右。其实，诺曼喜爱僵尸和灵异现象并不是没有根基的，自从这个男孩发现自己拥有能和死人对话的天赋以来，他眼睛中的世界就充满了各种各样的死去的人－－他的奶奶、邻居家的小狗、路上的各种行人等等等等，不一而足。这个夏天，一个已经上百岁的女巫对诺曼的小镇下了诅咒，坟墓里的邪恶的僵尸、鬼魂和女巫都一个接着一个地跑了出来－－它们想用自己的力量占领小镇，而不是像以前那样只在地下呆着。一个善良的鬼魂告诉了诺曼这一切，而诺曼也将利用自己能和鬼魂对话的天赋帮助小镇的人民转危为安。而诺曼从失败者向小镇英雄的身份的转变，就此拉开了帷幕。
