剧情梗概：
主人公伯特伦在意外死后，才过7分钟竟又复活过来，从此便拥有可以看见鬼魂的特异功能。不过这一特异功能给他带来了许多麻烦，因为他所遇见的鬼魂经常有求于他，尤其是一个叫做弗拉克的鬼魂，缠着他非要其阻止自己妻子再婚不可。不胜其烦的伯特伦又该如何是好呢？自私自利、人见人厌、愤世嫉俗、小心眼...，这些形容词简直就是为伯特伦·平库斯（瑞奇·吉弗斯）量身订造！别说邻居、顾客、同事个个对他恨之入骨，就连路边猫猫狗狗一见他也赶忙退避三舍。偏偏这位老兄活得顺风顺水，不但是个事业有成的牙医，每天还挺能自得其乐。不过，就算伯特伦恨不得随时独来独往，他也逃不过普通得不能再普通的结肠镜检查。进医院，挂号，签字，检查，万事大吉！一套常规下来，一切都好像很顺利...直到伯特伦猛然发现，自己竟然大白天开始见鬼！当场被吓得三魂去了六魄的他，一番打听之后才知道，原来自己居然在结肠镜检查中意外死翘翘，却又在七分钟后奇迹般地活了过来！呃滴神啊，这到底算是上天有好生之德？还是老天爷最近闲得无聊逗咱玩儿？俗话说：“大难不死，必有后福！”放屁！还没等惊魂未定的伯特伦喘口气，一连串麻烦就全找上门来。他新上手的见鬼“超能力”，显然让孤魂野鬼们欣喜若狂。好不容易遇到个能沟通的对象，在人间总有大把未了心愿的鬼同胞们，无论大小胖瘦，全一骨碌上门拜访，希望伯伦特出手帮忙。这些无处不在随心所欲的家伙，死缠烂打的恼人程度，比伯特伦的臭脾气更让人避之犹恐不及，不仅白天缠着他不放，就连半夜也全守在他床边欣赏睡姿！就快被逼到崩溃边缘的伯特伦，无奈之下只能接受鬼魂弗兰克（格雷格·金尼尔）的交易条件：帮弗兰克阻止他老婆格温（蒂娅·莱欧妮）再婚，其余鬼魂麻烦事一笔勾销……
