剧情梗概：
阿Mike（吴彦祖饰）出身警察之家，可惜父母早死，与舅舅住在一起，一直被当作多余的人。在警局做警察太过拼命，又成为同行的眼中钉。内心郁闷只有在警局locker一个人冲凉时才能缓解。一次任务中的意外让Mike受到处分，组长刘Sir让他放假。Mike在打游戏机的时候偶遇洪兴大哥任擎天（曾志伟饰），二人结缘。随后在酒楼又偶遇任的妻子Pauline（关秀媚饰），Mike被美丽的阿嫂吸引。刘Sir最终决定让Mike去做卧底，埋伏在任的身边，而一直郁郁不得志的Mike却自打着出人头地的如意算盘杰军装警员Mike（吴彦祖饰）与搭档聪仔一齐巡逻，走到一间冰室检查时，遇见匪徒入冰室打劫，Mike当机立断拔枪打死劫匪，但却上司认以其滥开枪而被停职。在停职期间，Mike携女友阿芝（安雅饰）去酒楼吃饭，巧遇黑帮大哥任击天（曾志伟饰）在酒楼的贵宾房里进行生日酒会，天之妻子Pauline（关秀媚饰）性感且好赌，经常瞒着丈夫前往澳门赌钱。在生日会上，天执行家法处治叛徒，血腥场面吓呆了Mike，天见Mike发楞，以为他受惊，于是给了他二千元他压惊，Mike心中暗暗羡慕天所拥有的的生活方式和性感娇妻。其后Mike被上司召见，警方表面将其革职，实际要安排他做卧底，而调查的目标就是大哥天，Mike凭着出色身手和过人胆识，终于顺利成为天之保镖。天带着Mike参加社团四大元老会议，与其中之一的大丧发生争执，Mike发现大丧之手下竟是聪仔，明白聪仔亦已成为卧底，两人遂假扮并不相识。Mike故意向上司泄露大丧的犯罪证据，借警方的力量除去大丧，乘乱接受其地盘，成功上位。渐渐丧心病狂的Mike接着不断铲除异己，扩大自己势力范围，为此他甚至还将聪仔杀死，并与Pauline发展私情。天知道真相后，为时已晚，局势已被Mike控制。但最后Mike亦死在了最爱的女人阿芝和Pauline的手上
