剧情梗概：
望女成凤的单身妈妈带着小女孩搬进了新家，并为了帮助她赢得成功的人生而制定了异常严苛的人生规划表。处于高压下的小女孩在一场意外中结识了隔壁的老飞行员并与他成为朋友，这个老顽童也将自己珍藏的小王子故事与她分享。一对忘年交沉浸在飞行员的回忆中，与周围成人的世界格格不入。故事每天都在讲，小女孩也仿佛随着小王子的脚步游历了整个宇宙，属于孩子的童心渐渐萌发，开始与妈妈的高压人生规划表和外面成人的世界有了小小的矛盾。这一天，老飞行员因为病危住进医院，人生最后的愿望就是能够再度见到小王子。为了满足老飞行员，同时也满足自己的好奇，小女孩开着老飞行员的飞机，踏上了未知的冒险旅途影片剧照：幕后花絮导演马克奥斯本大约1990年代在大学开展动画制作学业时才第一次读到《小王子》这本书，是从他妻子（当时还是女友）获赠的童年读物，也是两人的定情信物；之后他与妻子处在远距离恋爱阶段，这本书里的话也使他们的爱情能得以维续。导演有一个小女儿，这部动画电影一定程度上也是他特地为女儿所拍。在电影中狐狸的造型与其英语版配音演员詹姆斯弗兰科相像，但创作者们并非刻意为之。为主人公小王子配音的瑞利奥斯本是导演的儿子，在一开始录音时他们全家一起动员给他营造配音的环境。英文版在配音过程中全体主创是各自单独前往配音的，从未聚到一起过，这一点与中文版不完全相同。电影中很多细节受到法国经典影片的影响，埋藏了一些影迷才能发觉的致敬元素，如小女孩的家参考了雅克塔蒂《我的舅舅》里屋子的设计，而大人的世界受《玩乐时间》影响较大；有一场小女孩的戏致敬了特吕弗的《四百击》。片中小女孩的父亲被设置为从头至尾缺席，在一定程度上取材自导演与他妻子均成长在单亲家庭的经历.
