剧情梗概：
原本在21世纪过着无忧无虑生活的日本高中生三郎（小栗旬饰），因为一次意外而离奇地穿越了时空来到正孕育着重大变革的战国时代，并且和与自己有着高度一致容颜的织田信长（小栗旬饰）交换了身份。作为后来被万众所期待的一代霸主，三郎不由分说被簇拥回到了自己的城中。在那里他邂逅了斋藤道三的女儿归蝶（柴崎幸饰），两人从相互抵触到牵挂眷恋，彼此间有着难以割舍的因缘。作为历史常识极度欠缺的三郎，只能凭借着一本残破的历史课本在血腥残酷的战国时代左突右撞，而他也在一众良臣猛将的辅佐下，历经了桶狭间之战、上洛之行、金崎撤退、对战浅井朝仓等重大历史事件后，踌躇满志地朝着一统天下的大业迈进。安土城巍然耸立，第六天魔王的霸业近在咫尺。可就在此时，三郎从松永拿来的教科书中，得知织田信长即将死于1582年的本能寺之变的事实，从而备受打击。在此危急关头，外敌寇仇相继袭来。三郎强打精神，以信长之姿从容分兵布阵。谁知躲在暗处的羽柴秀吉（山田孝之饰）和真正的织田信长——明智光秀（小栗旬饰）则暗中密谋，酝酿着除掉三郎的险恶计划。眼见恒兴（向井理饰）等家臣以及归蝶对三郎给予无比的信任与爱戴，光秀内心深处的嫉妒如野草般疯长，这让他对眼前的假信长倍为憎恶。“死期”一天天地迫近，三郎一度绝望失落，自暴自弃，但臣下的拥护和归蝶的期待，让他重拾了活下去的希望。此时此刻，他更坚定了以织田信长身份在战国时代活下去的决心，他决定扭转既定的命运，为天下带来永久和平的同时，与归蝶举行正式的婚礼。决定历史走向的本能寺之变，千百万人的命运即将改变……
