剧情梗概：
首映放映时曾掀起过一阵风云，此番续集重来，周润发再次担正主角，并邀得台湾影帝陈松勇，大陆影星于莉分饰两角，实行来一次中、港、台大合作，这卷云来势似乎并直逼首集。　　这次的钟天正因误杀妻子而被捕入狱，再次过其铁窗生涯，并为续集揭开序幕。服刑期间正的母亲病逝，独子良仔被迫送入孤儿院，因此对父亲产生怨怼，狱中新任保安监督鬼见愁对正尤其憎厌，故当正欲申请外出探良仔时，他则诸多留难，并伺机教训正。　　　狱中的大陆帮，以大圈龙（陈松勇）为首，以树立威势与香港帮时有冲突。鬼欲收买大圈龙不果，故对龙怀恨在心。年初一正当庆祝之际，香港帮与大陆帮突起混乱，鬼派飞虎队镇厌。　　　鬼欲利用犯人骷髅头殴打正泄愤，过程中骷髅头错杀另一囚犯，鬼于是教唆他诬害龙，在如此含冤不白下龙毅然逃狱。另方面，鬼又指使骷髅头散播谣言，谓正出卖龙，大陆帮于是誓要对付正，正为自救被迫逃亡。正往孤儿院欲接良仔一起离港，可惜事败，被送回监房。男遂藉此借刀杀人，调正往大陆帮监仓内，危急存亡中，正只好借放火逃出仓外。两帮犯人怨恨更深，一场大打斗随即展开，大陆帮重创正并欲取其性命，正当此时……　　　续集虽然仍以监仓，囚犯为发展的主题，但在导与编的刻意安排下，打斗的背后仍渗透着一段令人难忘的友情，正如玛莉亚所唱：“人生于世上有几个知己，多少友谊能长存……”
