剧情梗概：
武警部队某中队奉命乘专列火车押解一批重要刑事犯赴西部某地监狱。歹徒团伙头目郑重里为搭救已经落网的同伙罗盘，做出了周密的安排：指派同伙杜鸣故意滋事入狱，在列车上与罗盘取得联系，然后在列车通过青龙镇时，设法把他们乘坐的车厢号码写在鞋垫上，从厕所通道扔出来；王吉昌在捡到鞋垫后立即打电话通知守在南站口的赵鹏；赵鹏则设法把越车逃跑的工具从厕所通道运送给罗盘和杜鸣；他本人则乘直升机沿途策应。布置就绪后，歹徒们分头行动，囚车快到青龙镇时，罗盘怂恿囚犯斗殴造成车内混乱。老公安赵日前来制止时，杜鸣假装拉肚子，请求开铐赴厕，趁机把联络的鞋垫从通道扔出。不料专列在青龙镇加挂了一节女囚车厢，赵鹏按计划把作案工具递上去时，正上厕所的女囚白薇大惊，夺过匕首企图自杀。武警中队队长丁聪立即叫曾当过外科大夫的女囚罗素芳进行抢救。白薇苏醒后供出了匕首的来历。总指挥何瑞雄立即下令封闭厕所。郑重里的第一个行动方案失败了，列车进入戈壁地带，车站里聚集了很多因这列囚车误点滞留的乘客，他们气愤中拒绝向囚车供水。此时郑重里已飞抵此地，并与黑社会头子狼三接上头，而罗盘的妹妹罗翎以肉体向狼三换取了烈性炸药及枪支，企图炸毁女囚车厢，乘乱救出罗盘和杜鸣。当郑重里在女囚车厢顶上安置炸弹时，被公安大李发现。何瑞雄命丁聪转移女囚后率部与郑重里展开枪战，郑重里被击毙，罗盘、杜鸣等囚犯也被武警制服。丁聪不顾生命危险冲上车顶，将定时炸弹抛向道旁。历时5天5夜，武警部队将囚车安全护送到目的地，胜利完成了任务。
