剧情梗概：
约翰•布朗（马修•布罗德里克MatthewBroderick饰）是某机器人实验室的保安，他的梦想就是有朝一日成为一名真正的警察。某日，实验室的一项计划被人盗窃，德高望重的博士也遭杀害。约翰追踪凶手，结果却遭遇了严重的车祸，命悬一线。此前老博士正和女儿布兰达（JoelyFisher饰）进行一项名为加杰特程序的研究，借此机会，布兰达将约翰改造成一个功能强大的半机器人。死而复生并更名为加杰特的约翰表面上与一般人类别无二致，而身体内却装有超过一万个精密机关，他因此实现梦想，成为协助警方抓捕罪犯的得力助手。与此同时，罪恶的科学家克劳博士（鲁伯特•艾弗莱特RupertEverett饰）利用布兰达父女的研究制造出机器人用于犯罪，并将罪行栽赃加杰特。为了维护正义、洗刷罪名，加杰特与克劳展开了一场警匪大战剧情版本二：G型神探在一次意外中，身体遭到严重的伤害，好心的机械外科科学家布兰坦，在他身上配备有14,000多种多用途的机关，当然有小部分不是十分管用。从此，G型神探就成为Metro市里最出色的警探之一，直到邪恶的克劳博士出现。克劳博士设计陷害G型神探，让他被误以为是盗取Metro市立银行数百万元的嫌疑犯，害得他不但被摘下警徽同时还名誉扫地。最终G型神探将克劳博士绳之以法，洗刷自己的冤情，恢复神探的美名。影片评论：有别于《星际大战首部曲》影迷大都是20年受《星际大战》所启发的中年及年轻一代影迷；《G型神探》所吸引的主要观众群则是80年代看同名卡通影集长大的青少年，因为这个长得斯文，可是办案工具很畸型的《G型神探》，可曾是他们心目中的偶像。迪士尼公司即是考虑到现今的特效技术已经成熟到可以把当年只有动画才能作到的画面，以真人拍摄的手法呈现在电影里。曾主演1998年暑假特效大片《酷斯拉》男主角的马修柏德瑞克，对于饰演科幻电影可说是架轻就熟了，对于在蓝板前演戏对他而言已经不是很大的困难了，只是这一次因应《G型神探》剧情的需要，他必须要与自己身上的各种机关演戏，因此难度又更高了。至于在本片里饰演大反派，也就是G型神探死对头的，则是曾经在《新娘不是我》里抢尽茱莉亚罗勃兹风采的英俊小生鲁柏艾瑞特，虽然拍特效电影经验不是很丰富，但是他在拍片现场却玩得很高兴，再加上《G型神探》是他1999里的第三部电影，片约之多让他拍起喜剧片又更开心了！
