剧情梗概：
对于每一个孩子来说，当妈妈管得太严、唠唠叨叨时，恐怕都产生过让妈妈消失的想法。对于伊丽莎白、杰利米和哈瑞这三个小家伙来说也不例外。妈妈工作繁忙，她不能像同学的妈妈一样早上做好吃的馅饼，也没有时间陪孩子们玩耍，当做错事情时，妈妈还会严厉地批评。伊丽莎白和两个弟弟都开始厌烦妈妈的这种教育孩子方式，要是妈妈能消失那就再也没有人在耳边唠叨了，那该是多么美好的一件事情啊。孩子们把这个想法告诉了邻居家的老奶奶，老奶奶教给孩子们一句咒语，如果妈妈真的消失，孩子们就可以去妈咪超市里选择一名自己喜欢的妈妈回家了。尽管孩子们对此将信将疑，但还是迫不及待地回家默诵咒语，等待奇迹的出现。第二天妈妈真的不见了，但同妈妈一起消失的还有对妈妈的记忆。此刻孩子们已经顾不上这一切了，他们兴奋地来到妈咪超市开始选购妈妈。每个家庭只有三次选择妈妈的机会，为此要特别慎重。年龄最大的伊丽莎白选择了一位有钱又漂亮的妈妈，但这个妈妈每天就是让孩子们按照他的意愿去打扮，而且对哈瑞饲养的宠物蜥蜴妈妈非常厌恶，这样的妈妈没过两天就让孩子们厌烦。于是孩子们来到妈咪超市准备选第二个妈妈。第二个妈妈是运动型妈妈，她钟爱野营，每天训练孩子们野外生存，并且总想把哈瑞的蜥蜴做成标本。很快，孩子们不得不考虑找第三个妈妈了。在哈瑞的要求下，一个会变戏法的妈妈来到家中。但这个妈妈把整个马戏团都带来了，到处都是练杂耍的，弄得没有一点家的样子。这个妈妈还强迫哈瑞学习杂技，因为她要带哈瑞去巡回演出。孩子们开始想念自己的妈妈了，他们还是希望可以和自己的妈妈一起生活，哪怕整日被她唠叨。通过老奶奶的指点，孩子们把对妈妈的记忆碎片拼凑在一起，终于把妈妈变了回来。此刻孩子们才明白只有和自己的妈妈生活在一起才是最幸福的。
