剧情梗概：
在人类不知也无法到达的地方存在着一个妖怪世界。在眼珠老爹、猫女、子泣爷爷、砂婆婆这些朋友的保护和照顾下，鬼太郎在那个神秘的妖怪世界里开心快乐、自由自在的生活着。突然有一天，鬼太郎接到了妖怪信使带来的一封信。向他求助的是一个叫做三浦健太的小学生。健太和高中生姐姐实花和他们的父亲晴彦生活在一起。他们居住的小区为了修建主题公园，正在拆毁稻荷神社，而从动工的那天开始，每天都会出现许多形状怪异的妖怪，居住在那个小区的居民都陷入了恐慌和慌乱中。　　于此同时，妖怪世界里也发生了很严重的事情。被封印在秘密地方的“妖怪石”突然不见了。封印在妖怪石里的是人类的邪念和咒怨，而这块妖怪石更是在织田信长、天草四郎等撼动历史的关键时刻起到了重要的作用。如果可以合理的运用这块石头，得到它的妖怪将获得巨大的能量，所以一旦被心术不正抑或心存歹意的妖怪得到的话，后果将不堪设想。　　万万想不到的是，妖怪石竟然在贪图金钱的鼠男的手中，为了谋取金钱，鼠男将妖怪石当作宝石，以高价出售了。而整件事情被键太的父亲晴彦看到了，受到石头魔力的诱惑，晴彦不顾一切的把妖怪石偷到了自己手中。不知将它放在何处的晴彦将石头交给了不会引人注意的键太保管，并哄骗他说“不要对任何人提起这块石头的存在，这是男人和男人之间的约定。”　　但妖怪石自有的魔力时刻吸引着追随它的邪恶妖怪空狐。并将他悄悄的向藏有它的键太和姐姐实花的身边带领。而妖怪空狐正是企图统治人类及妖怪世界的邪恶妖怪。空狐为了夺得妖怪石向键太发起了一波波猛烈的攻击。鬼太郎、键太、实花为了保护妖怪世界的平静与安全，接受了空狐的挑战。好与坏、善与恶的妖怪都卷进了这场战斗。改变鬼太郎命运和能力的重大战争也拉开了序幕
